Stalk Redfish On the Texas Flats with Capt. Travis Glidden
Stalk the clear, salt shallows, poised to test your flycasting skills against the quintessential flats prowler, the redfish. Stand alert on the casting deck, flyrod in one hand, fly in the other, watching for an unwary redfish to swim into view.
From under the reflected sky, a redfish materializes, casually cruising his way along the bottom, searching for a tasty snack. Will the next thing he engulfs be your fly? The rest is up to you.
If your cast is well placed and the fly entices, the game is on! If your quarry is spooked because the flyline crossed his back, or he felt your movement, well, the, the hunt continues for the next opportunity.
Don’t worry; there will be plenty more. Capt. Travis Glidden will put you where the fish are. Contact Sightcast Safari today to reserve your place on deck!
The World’s Finest Fleet
For sightcasting to spooky redfish on the shallow, gin-clear flats of the Texas coast, the right platform is critical. We maintain a fleet of three Hell’s Bay skiffs, “The World’s Finest Shallow-Water Skiffs.” All three are rigged specifically for our fishery, with an emphasis on minimum weight and maximum utility.
For fishing protected flats with a single client, our ultralight Glades Skiff draws delivers unmatched agility on the pole.
For one or two clients, our classic tiller-steered, no-liner Waterman 16 provides greater capacity and stability while still drawing just 3” with motor, fuel and gear.
For trips with two clients, our side-console Waterman 18 gets us into 6” of water but also allows us to cross open waters in comfort and carry additional gear.
